Percutaneous Mitral Valve Intervention and modelling with multi-modality imaging

چکیده
Functional mitral regurgitation (MR) is a common finding occurring in 20% of the general population1 and nearly 40% of heart failure patients exhibiting at least moderate regurgitation.2 severity of MR predicts mortality3 and increased morbidity in ischaemic and non-ischaemic aetiologies4, regardless of revascularisation techniqueas well as in asymptomatic patients.5 Mitral valve repair, by surgical or interventional techniques, aims to restore valve competence and electromechanical synchrony to improve symptoms and survival.

SHORT TERM CLINICAL OUTCOME OF PERCUTANEOUS BALLOON MITRAL VALVULOPLASTY VERSUS SURGICAL CLOSED MITRAL COMMISSUROTOMY
BaIlon mitral valvuloplasty and closed mitral valve conunissurotomy were performed in 450 and 127 patients, respectively. Also, 254 patients with severe mitral stenosis were enrolled in a prospective randomized trial comparing the two procedures. Immediately after balloon mitral valvuloplasty, mean left atrial pressure was 11.38±3.54 mmHg, transmitral valve gradient was 1.8±2 mmHg, and mit...
متن کاملMulti Modality Imaging for Cardiac Masses Can Avoid Unnecessary Surgical Intervention: A Case Report of Caseous Calcification of Mitral Annulus
Mitral Annular Calcification (MAC) is a degenerative process involving the fibrous ring of the mitral valve. Caseous Calcification of Mitral Annulus (CCMA) is a rare variant of MAC. This condition is benign and usually needs no treatment. This is a case report of a 67-year-old woman with non-specific symptoms in whom a cardiac tumor was suspected by transthoracic Echocardiography. The use of mu...

Introdution: Ischemic mitral regurgitation (IMR) remains one of the most complex and unresolved aspects of ischemic heart disease that the impact of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) on improvement of intensity of ischemic mitral regurgitation is not well clarified. Patients with coronary artery diseases and ischemic mitral regurgitation have a worse prognosis than the patients with coro...
متن کاملManagement of mitral stenosis using 2D and 3D echo-Doppler imaging.
Although the prevalence of rheumatic fever is decreasing in developed countries, it still affects numerous areas in the nonindustrialized world. Untreated mitral stenosis (MS) contributes to a significant global morbidity and mortality. Echocardiography is the main diagnostic imaging modality with which to evaluate mitral valve (MV) obstruction and assess the severity and hemodynamic consequenc...
متن کاملRole of Echocardiographic Imaging in Percutaneous Balloon Mitral Valvotomy
Mitral stenosis (MS) is a still frequently encountered in India and Bangladesh. Untreated MS contributes to the morbidity and mortality. Balloon mitral Valvotomy is effective and commonly used for relief of obstruction in symptomatic patients. The case selection is guided by clinical characteristics and imaging. Echocardiography is the most important imaging modality to assess severity of obstr...
